Ingredients: All quantities are approximate and per one person.
3 to 4 tablespoons rolled oats
Small handful almonds (approx 7)
Sprinkle of sunflower seeds
1 Tablespoon dried goji berries
1 Tablespoon dried cranberries
2 to 3 dates chopped
1 to 2 tablespoons sprouted buckwheat
1 tsp chia seeds
Place all in a breakfast bowl and cover with water.
Leave overnight at room temperature. Place a plate or cloth over the bowl, no need for airtight covering.
In the morning all these grains, nuts, seeds and fruits will have soaked up the water making them easy to digest and the nutrients in them readily available to the body.
Add ground linseed (1 to 3 tabelspoons) and top with chopped fresh fruit, or if you need a bigger breakfast and serve with raw, organic, whole milk or plain yoghurt.
This breakfast is rich in protein, fibre, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats including omegas, digestive enzymes, beneficial bacteria, antioxidants, minerals and B vitamins. It keeps your blood sugar balanced, gives you sustained energy, reduces mid-morning cravings, supports your nervous system, muscles, blood vessels, bones and skin.
A slice of toast with jam, or a refined cereal from a packet – practically does the opposite of all the above.
