My mum lent me Brett’s book in March 2025, and I read it in one day. I found it extremely helpful and interesting. I’m 22 and had been diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease — doctors really weren’t much help, and I felt so discouraged and lost. Getting so sick at such a young age, especially when fitness and wellbeing have always been such a huge part of my life, was devastating. I just felt like I was getting sicker and sicker, and the doctors didn’t seem to care.
After reading the book, I decided to take the plunge and completed the detox and diet over three weeks in March — and it has literally changed my life! I felt so much happier and had more energy than I’d had in over a year. My skin cleared, my daily headaches were gone, the bloating disappeared — and for the first time in a year, my kidney pain was completely gone. I honestly felt like I got my life back.
The detox also completely changed my relationship with food in a way I didn’t even know I needed. It stripped everything back to the basics and made me realise how little I actually need all that junk. Now, seven months later, my diet is still pretty similar to the detox — mostly fruit and veggies with some lean protein and complex carbs — and I’ve never felt better.
